really sick and called a prayer counselor and he make this statement. What promise are you standing on?
I had been doing this, but never really put the two together. Prayer without a promise from scripture can be naked. That is not to say we make a law out of this and have to have a scripture every time we approach God. But I do think if we are believing for something, and we don’t get that promise deep down in our mind and heart, and just pray only, that our minds will eventually be overcome by doubt. And if that doesn’t happen on our own, the devil will attack us and put on the pressure to doubt God’s faithfulness. I believe in most cases we will be overcome.
In my life, I have found that it is easier to hang onto a written Promise than just a prayer only.
“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
(Hebrews 4:12 NKJV)
