About seven months ago, I was deathly sick and had just gotten out of the hospital. I was at the end of my seven year trial that I had asked for and God has designed for me to teach me about divine healing. Ginelle and Amber were working and Samantha wanted to take care of me. I was in awful shape. She made me an eight course meal which included: canned ravioli, hard boiled eggs, oatmeal, toast and jelly, etc. Well you get the idea. She wanted to take care of me again.
Samantha was about eight months old when I became deathly ill in 2005. I love all of my grandkids dearly, but there is a special bond because she lives with us. When I was tempted to give up with all these horrible things wrong with me during this seven year period I would look at her and get motivation from God and tell myself I will find a way to be healed. I wrote a song called “The little girl with the big blue eyes.” That little girl helped keep me alive and going!
So last night, I took her out to eat, even though she asked if she could cook for me. I will leave you with the song lyrics I wrote that sum it up. Thank you Samantha!!!!! Baba loves you!
THE LITTLE GIRL WITH THE BIG BLUE EYES
BY SCOT ASHCROFT
Written 2008-2009
(CHORUS)
SHE’S THE LITTLE GIRL
WITH THE BIG BLUE EYES
SHE SAID “I LOVE YOU GRANDPA
PLEASE DON’T DIE”
RIGHT THEN I KNEW
WHAT I HAD TO DO
I HAD TO LIVE
BE THERE FOR THAT LITTLE KID
TO WATCH HER GROW
THAT SHE MIGHT KNOW
SHE HAS A GRANDPA
WHO LOVES HER SO
I thought of all the milestones
That I would miss
starting with little hugs
And her good night kiss
Would I see her
Trade in her trike
So she could learn
How to ride a bike?
Her first day of school
I didn’t want to miss
To wave goodbye to her
As she blows me a sweet kiss
I want now
To see her learn to drive a car
And to think back
And know that we’ve come this far
Would I see her wedding day?
And meet the man who
Stole her heart away
(CHORUS)
I can still remember that day
She first came our way
I was now a proud grandpa
To our home she came to stay
I love seein her grow
Changes come from day to day
Will it be pigtails or a ponytail?
As she gets dressed now to play
Oh how she loves her grandma
And her momma too
She really loves to pray
And read about Jesus every day
(CHORUS)
(ENDING VERSE)
SO I ASKED THE LORD
TO LET ME LIVE
TO SHOW ME MERCY
FOR THAT LITTLE KID
HE SPARED MY LIFE
AND LET ME BE
A GRANDPA WHO WAS THERE
THAT SHE COULD SEE
EVERYDAY MY HEART DOES RISE
WHEN I SEE THE LITTLE GIRL
WITH THE BIG BLUE EYES
