You all remember Popeye, the sailor man. He was this wimpy guy, but when he couldn’t take any more, he would open up a can of spinach and beat the stuffing out of that bully Brutus or Bluto. I got sick of being sick. It had take seven years of my life. Just like the woman with the issue of blood found in Mark chapter 5, I had had enough. So I said to myself like Popeye used to say “That’s all I can stands and I can’t stands no more.” I drew a line in the sand and said no
more!
I knew the Word of God promised me divine health so why couldn’t I get it. It took me five and one half years to be healed. It took one and a half more years, with the devil trying to beat the living stuffing out of me, to learn how to be able to teach these principles to others. It was like the devil was saying to me “so you got your healing but I will kill you before, you learn these Book of Acts principles.” And he almost did!
What got me really focused in this area after I had become very sick was a cd by Ray Comfort that I had listened to. Ray Comfort has the Way of the Master Ministry, with Christian actor Kirk Cameron. Two men I greatly respect. Ray read about 20 names of people who were from his home ministry area in New Zealand and Australia. These men were in their late 20’s to mid 40’s. They were Spirit-filled, ministers of the gospel. They had either died or were near death from cancer, heart disease, etc. You might think well that’s really sad. I agree for two reasons. One I feel
compassion for anyone who is sick. I have been there; it’s horrible. But the point that Ray was trying to make was this. I will put it in my own words. These men are the Peters and Johns of their area of the world and they can’t get themselves healed. Why not!!! In all honesty, I don’t think Ray had the answer; at least he didn’t give it. I am sure many of you have posed the same question and have just eventually resolved to the status quo: this is just the way it is or we need revival. Like healing only works during revival.
I was very troubled about this, and God used it to prick my heart. I went on a seven year quest to find out the answer. Could I find the map to the hidden city? I knew there had to be something in-between just throwing out a pray-hoping it works and someone with the gift of healing or a gift of the spirit. Let’s face it those things are rare occurrences and not very practical on a day to day basis. It took me seven years, to discover and get it right but I learned to do it like Jesus did it. Healing by faith is something that is always available and is reproducible.
I want to share two promises that I have stood on. John 14:12 says “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.” This is what we are supposed to do. If it wasn’t possible, why would Jesus say this? And III John 2 says, “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” The word wish means it is his will.
One thing I learned is this: even a wimp like me can come to a point just like Popeye did and say enough is enough. I found and opened up that can of spinach and found divine healing. I asked God in his mercy for another chance. I asked him to let me be a teacher and bring these principles of the Great Commission that are demonstrated in the Book of Acts and he did. I know some of you are probably thinking this guy is full of himself. All I can say is that I am not; I am full of divine healing teaching. I give God all of the credit and the glory. I am just very confident. These principles are working in me every time I pray and they have worked hundreds and hundreds of times. I had 15 to 20 things wrong with me for seven years. I had a lot of time to practice on myself before moving on to others. God has guided me every step of the way. He is a good, good; God and he wants you to be well. Everyone should learn how to walk in divine health. Why be sick if you don’t have to be? I tell people this now “You don’t have to be able to run the mile when you are eighty, but you should be able to walk it with ease. That is God’s will for everyone. I just want to help people find divine healing and to learn to walk in divine health!
