My dad has always been there for me. He has prayed for me and helped me whenever I needed help. During difficult times, he has given me the proverbial shirt off his own back. Ginelle, my wife, said he is the most giving person she has ever known. Many times, he gave to me and it was always a gift that he didn’t want paid back. A while back, as God was doing miraculous things in my life and preparing me for a Divine Healing teaching ministry, I asked the Lord, what can I do for him, to repay him. “I want so much to bless him back, Lord.” God spoke to my heart, and told me “your dad’s reward will be waiting for him in heaven. Your ministry will be the fruit of your dad’s giving and helping you.” I told my dad what the Lord has said to me. This was very humbling in so many ways. He received it with joy.
I have watched him in the last ten years, as he has gotten so close in his relationship to the Lord. It has been a joy to see! For him, as it has been for me, these have been the most amazing even though at times very difficult part of that journey with regard to health issues. He told me a few years ago that you are not only my son but I consider you my Pastor. That really touched my heart and again humbled me. I have seen him pray for things and not give up until he got them. I have been able to pray with him and for him in the area of divine healing, and see God touch him many, many times. He still has many physical challenges, but he keeps living for the Lord one day at a time.
He is not only my Dad; he’s become my best friend. Outside of my wife Ginelle, I am closer to no one. When I was eighteen, just after high school, my dad led me to Christ. I am eternally grateful as you can imagine. It has been quite a journey as we have shifted roles in the last few years in some areas; he took care of me for so long and now I am able to care for him when he needs it. Many of you have had this experience yourself. It truly is an honor.!
The greatest spiritual lesson that my dad taught me was this; “if it’s in the Word (the Bible)-it’s the Truth and I am gonna live by it.” This was true in areas like Divine Healing for himself; even when he didn’t get as much victory as he desired. He kept on believing!
I love my Dad! It’s just as simple as that! For two reasons, for the man he is that I just described and just because he’s my Dad and I want to honor him!
Thank you, Ken Ashcroft, for being my Dad!
It’s an honor to be your Son,
