Two of my favorite Bible characters are Moses and Peter. I identify with both of them. They tried to do things in the flesh (with their natural abilities). They both had big time failures in their lives. I wrote the book on this. I took encouragement from their examples.
Galatians 6:9 has become one of my life verses. It says “And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.” I finally
went after God with all my heart. First, I prayed, “Lord whatever you have to do to change me, just do it, give me a vision of heaven or hell, just spare my life.” Then in April, 2011, I surrendered everything. It was warfare; some days two steps forward, one step back. Some days it felt like I was going backwards. But, little by little, I grew and changed. I give God all the glory. The only thing I can take credit for is not quitting and applying myself. I believe he gave me the strength to do this, also.
It’s never too late to make a difference. There is no quicker time to start than today. When you stand before Jesus, will you know that you gave it your all? One Bible teacher, who I have great respect for, said this; “I believe God will have to wipe away our tears because we will realize that we had all this power and authority and just didn’t use it.” Scripture talks about “the glory that will be revealed in us” not to us. We will see what is inside of us: the same power that raised Jesus from the day. Jesus told us that we could do the same things he did and even greater things in John 14:12. I believe the greater things is a reference to the giving the Holy Spirit. When he went to his father, he wasn’t limited in his human body anymore. The Holy Spirit was available everywhere.
So I am so thankful, that I persevered through this trial, and God did something amazing in my life. I now know what I dreamed about at North Central University in Minneapolis, where I went to Bible College, was not just a dream, but is now a reality in my life. The Book of Acts is available today if we just go after it with all of our heart, and don’t quit until we get it. If I can go from being a failure to seeing the sick healed; just think what he can do for you. Take him at his Word; you won’t be disappointed.
