GOING FOR THE GOLD-GOD’S GOLD THAT IS! -PART 1
LOVE GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART!
So why have I decided to end my Facebook Live Hour-plus Teaching videos on Tuesdays? Here’s why?
First let me say that the responses that I have been getting are amazing. The last week I have seen maybe a ten-fold increase in responses. But I have noticed one-thing. The amount of time that people are watching the videos is much shorter than the videos.
So, I believe God is leading me to end the hour-plus teachings on Facebook Live. I believe he is leading me to make a change in the format. I will be taping three fifteen minutes teaching videos each Tuesday. So, you have the choice to watch just one or you can watch all three if you choose to.
These may be a continuation of the same subject or different subjects altogether. If they are a continuation, they will be labeled-Part 1, Part 2, Part. They should work as a standalone or combined teaching. They will also allow me to speak on certain subjects that I have desired to which are shorter in nature. So, it you hear a timer go off; that’s what it is, and I will finish up.
I also want you to know that I am using another translation or version of the Bible. I have researched and like and recommend the CSB or HCSB. The Christian Standard Bible or the Holman’s Christian Standard Bible. It is a Word-for-Word. I mainly use the ESV (English Standard Version); and the KJV (King James Version).
1 Corinthians 9:24-27 (ESV)
24 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it.
25 Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable.
26 So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air.
27 But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.
We are in the middle of the Winter Olympics as I am teaching this. The Olympics are fun to watch. You see all these dedicated athletes both women and men that are the best in the world completing for one thing: the gold.
First, let me say this “Life is not a dress rehearsal.” This is it folks. We should all God has for us. We should go for it. I think many Christians have given up on becoming what God called them to be: a world changer. They are not going for the gold but settling for just being an alternate on the team. Go for the gold. You will never regret that. Remember the gold medal that Olympians receive is only temporary, but the God’s Gold medal has eternal value.
1. God has great plans for you
Jeremiah 29:11 (ESV)
11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
2. So, what are the greatest joys a Believer can have?
We are going to look at one of those right now in Part 1.
Mark 12:30,31 (HCSB)
30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.
31 “The second is: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other command greater than these.”
3. Knowing God (intimately -up close and personal)
Philippians 3:10 (ESV)
10 that I may know him and the power of his resurrection
To Know Him
The greatest thing we can do is to accept Jesus and know that our name is written down in the Book of Life. I think sometimes, we feel that we really can’t know him up close and personal like our spouse or best friend or mom or dad. We think we must wait for heaven and that down here we just know about him from what the Bible says. This is not true. I know him in a way that I never thought possible.
I used to know about him. I was saved going to heaven- but didn’t really have that intimate relationship with him. Now I feel his pleasure and hear that still small voice every day. This is something anyone can have.
One thing that I have experienced daily is one of the most awesome things there is. I felt guilty because I thought that should rank second because it wasn’t just knowing the Lord but is was part of the gifts of the Holy Spirit in operation and my calling as a teacher but then God spoke this to me. Revelation is a very intimate thing it has to do with my heavenly father showing me his kingdom truths. Because he loves me he shares these things with me. It’s like he’s giving you the keys to his car and letting your drive it. Pretty cool!!
My life changed when I changed my way of relating g to the Lord. I had the advantage and disadvantage of being deathly sick for ten years.
· Advantage-no way out except by faith and prayer and promises.
· Disadvantage was it was it was so hard for me to study and focus because of the pain, and I was already OCD and suffering from the lowest self-esteem one could have.
So, what is the key I believe this is it: How do we love and know God. In fact, he showed me this from his word!
Jeremiah 29:13(ESV)
13 You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.
There are no shortcuts to getting the God’s gold-his best. You must seek him with all your heart. That means you give him everything. If you seek him with all your heart you will find him and as I say if you don’t you won’t. It takes effort and dedication, but the dividends are out of this world-literally.
I am going to tell you in the next segment-part 2 how Loving and Knowing God is a prerequisite to loving your neighbor. I will show you how that works.
