1. You can learn to receive Divine Healing yourself
2. You can pray for and help others receive Divine Healing
3. You can learn to walk in Divine Health
4. If the devil attacks you after you are healed, you will know how to properly defend your healing

Today we are looking at the second stage or level of faith-Intermediate faith. Last week we looked at Beginning faith with the man who saw men walking as trees. Next week it is: mountain-moving faith. We are going to look at the man with the epileptic son tonight.
If you received a study guide it would have had you read two portions of scripture in two different versions: the KJV and the English Standard Version. Those portions of Scripture were Mark 9:14-19 and Matthew 17:14-20. We are not going to take the time to read all of that tonight but I encourage if you haven’t and want to do some comparison do that after we are done. If you don’t have those versions you can go to www.biblegateway.com-it’s an online service-I think they have over 40 versions or something like that.
Matthew 17:14-29 (KJV)
And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying, Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water. And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him. Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me. And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him:
and the child was cured from that very hour. Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? And Jesus said unto them, “Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.”
(Lunatic meant mentally unstable and sore vexed means troubled)
This man who brought his son to the disciples and then to Jesus -he represents the intermediate level. This is where you can do some things on your own faith and sometimes you may need help. You are not a beginner but you don’t have that mountain- moving faith that we are going to talk about next week. This person has some strength but begins to doubt if the results are not forthcoming. In other words, they are growing and on their way but not there yet.
This cracks me up. Notice anything strange as you read this verse from the ES, this verse from Matthew 17:21 Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?” 20 He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”
(Little Faith as compared to faith the size of a Mustard Seed)-Confusing yes: they should have left it alone and addressed it as the King James did=it’s because of your unbelief)
(The NIV pretty much excludes it)
Let’s talk about unbelief:
There are three types of unbelief:
1. Lack of Knowledge
(“My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge” Hosea 4:6 (“Study to show yourself approved a workman that needs not to be ashamed”) (II Timothy 2:15)
2. Wrong Teaching
(False doctrine)
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32)
Remember It’s the truth you know
3. Natural Fear
(Peter walking on water-he did fine until he got focused on the wind and waves and took his eyes off Jesus)
*****Remember the disciples had gone out and had great success earlier- it appears that they had smooth sailing administering the power that Jesus had given them. The only thing that makes sense is that this was something new. This was a very scary physical manifestation and it spooked them and they were more moved by the actions of the boy than their believing for him to be delivered. So, their faith was shut down.
So how do you overcome this type of unbelief: is there an antidote?
-For a lack of Knowledge -Getting to know God’s Word the TRUTH YOU KNOW WILL MAKE YOU FREE.
-For Wrong Teaching-same thing (you have to deprogram to reprogram)-The first type has a clean slate the second type has wrong ideas that will have to be countered and this process may take a little longer
For Natural Fear-This one only comes out by prayer and fasting—you need to spend time with the Lord (Quality-yes and Quantity-too) Fasting is good because it teaches mind over body. Your body says I’m going to die I have eaten for like 4 hours. You break through and overcome this. Now use wisdom. It’s always better to start small and work your way up-SAFER. By doing this you are training your mind and body to be able to focus on Jesus.
-Unbelief is very subtle: what I mean by this is you might think you are truly believing and yet there is this stream of unbelief operating and flowing through you still. You will figure it out as you mature.
-The promise doesn’t work unless it is mixed with faith (that means unbelief is not present)
“For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.” (Hebrews 4:2)
Get yourself a little victory and then BOOK MARK IT
“Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little” (Isaiah 28:9.10)
-Microwave Healing-Here’s the problem: we pray about our healing and if it doesn’t manifest in ten minutes time, we give up and quit. We are used to the drive thru at McDonalds. We get our food right away. Sometimes, it does happen instantly-especially off someone else’s faith. If we determined in our heart, with God’s help, I am not gonna quit believing until it manifests (persevering faith) then we would get it. (Once we get that one victory under our belt, it will be easier to believe God for more- again bookmark it) (If God can do this he can do that bigger thing-that’s what I do)
Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24)
(I have used this in my prayer life is when I am struggling in an area; I started praying that several months ago and you know what it works every time. God is so merciful. So, it you are struggling you can pray that too. Only pray it in faith not fear and panic. God will honor it)
