IS GOD A LIAR OR DOES HE KEEP HIS WORD?
Before I start, I wanted to explain why I had to cancel the program broadcast last week. Remember I told you that I would always be honest with you. Please grant me grace; because I am still learning. I have lost about 80 plus pounds so far. On occasion I have struggled and pigged out. Last week I overate and as a reaction got something like a violent stomach flu. I lost about 16 pounds the hard way. I don’t recommend. After asking God’s forgiveness and for his mercy I repented. My system in the old days maybe could have handled this but not at where I am at today. Anyway, I learned my lesson the hard way.
Romans 3:4 (KJV)
let God be true, but every man a liar
Introduction
Sometimes it’s hard to tell the truth. I remember my first marriage counseling session I sat in with my Pastor.
I was 25 years old just out of Bible School and wet behind the ears. The lady; let’s call her Mary came in first and began to tell what a beast her husband; let’s call him Jimmy was. By the time she was done I knew she was the victim and Jimmy was the bad guy in the marriage. Then Jimmy came in and I was totally convinced that Mary was the most selfish woman I had ever heard of. I knew then that Jimmy was the victim and Mary was the problem. Who was telling the truth and who was lying? It was hard to tell. Then they both came in and I realized that both were half right and half wrong. Both were at fault in the marriage.
1. Do you believe the Promises?
We’re trying to pray harder and get more people to join their faith in. This is a major mistake! Why do you want a bunch of people who can’t get themselves healed from a cold praying for your kid’s cancer. Jesus said it is the quality not the quantity of faith that matters. When the disciples asked him for more faith, he said all you need is a Mustard Seed. Faith minus Doubt equals a miracle.
Better one with faith then a 1000 with unbelief.
2. Unbelief stops the Power of God from working
Matthew 17:14-21 (KJV)
14 And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, kneeling down to him, and saying,
15 Lord, have mercy on my son: for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for ofttimes he falleth into the fire, and oft into the water.
16 And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him.
17 Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.
18 And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.
19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?
20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
21 Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.
· If you do; you get the answer and if you don’t; you won’t!
· If you can believe what you are saying, then is the promises don’t work
· Just because you are not getting answers doesn’t mean that the promises don’t work
3. If you can believe???
Mark 9:23 (KJV)
23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
So, what is the answer to that question “If you can Believe?-How do prepare yourself so you can believe and get your miracle?
· You must be willing to persevere
To not quit just because you don’t see immediate results
Galatians 6:9 (ESV)
9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.
· You must align what you are doing with the Word of God
(it’s the truth that sets you free-not your opinion)
(it’s the truth you know (which means in your heart not just your head)
John 8:31-32 (ESV)
31 So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples,
32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
· You’ve got change your way of doing business
· You’ve got to spend time and buy into this (in other wards you’ve got to renew your mind)
Romans 12:1-2 (ESV)
1 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.
2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.
· Ask God to help your unbelief and for you to belief
Mark 9:24 (ESV)
24 Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!”
· He will help you if you call on him. When I have been struggling, I pray this prayer and he has always come through. He will do the same for you.
· Remember God always keeps his Word; we must just learn how to obey it.
