(QUESTION FROM LAST WEEK)
Is it wrong to pray more than once for healing?
“Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him.
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received[a] it, and it will be yours. (Mark 11:23,24)
-Don’t dig up your seed-the Word of God is a Seed-you plant it and water and fertilize with Thanks. “Thank you Lord that you have already healed me.” Not petitioning for it again. You can command it to manifest. But if you pray once and then again: it means that you didn’t believe the first time and you are being double-minded and a double-minded person will not receive anything from the Lord.
-I think Scot you are being a little too legalistic or technical. God knows what I mean. Are you getting results? When it came to divine healing, I wasn’t getting any positive results, now I am getting them all the time on myself. These laws are meant to be followed, we can’t just throw it out there and hope it sticks.
-I do believe there are times that God “interprets” he sees our heart and faith and even though our words may not be expressed in accordance with his Word, he grants it.
(QUESTION FROM LAST WEEK)
What stops people from receiving their healing?
-Two Things:
1. Unbelief
2. A lack of understanding of the principles of God’s Word concerning healing.
“Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? 20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you” (Matthew 17: 19, 20)
-Again, it’s not a faith problem but an unbelief problem
“according as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 4 whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature” (II Peter 1:3,4)
-Knowledge through the Promises makes us receivers of his divine nature-His Power
1. I prayed and it didn’t work-Why?
-It could be for a number of reasons which are all correctable:
a. You were full of unbelief
b. You didn’t use the Promises
c. You gave up too quickly
d. If you are full of unforgiveness
2. What about this positive confession? Does it really matter what I say?
“because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. “
(Romans 10:9,10)
-What you say is critical. You must train your heart with the promises of God and the help of the Holy Spirit.
3. Aren’t people lying who go around saying they are healed when there is no physical evidence physical evidence that they are?
-Now I am talking about people who are sincerely believing from their heart and confessing with their mouths
“When the servant of the man of God rose early in the morning and went out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was all around the city. And the servant said, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?”
He said, “Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” 17 Then Elisha prayed and said, “O Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.” So, the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.”
(II Kings 6:15-17)
-Ezekiel was lying right-2 against thousands. No wait; he was one of those faith guys, right? Or contrary to popular belief faith isn’t fake it till you make it but seeing and believing with your heart while you stand on the Promises of God no matter what it looks like and take your authority in Jesus name and commanding it to manifest.)
4. I thought God was just sovereign. He healed who wants to and others he doesn't Isn't that true?
-That would make him a respecter of persons.
“I perceive that God is no respecter of persons” (Acts 10:34)
-That means He don’t play favorites. Everyone has the same amount of faith and can overcome through the Word.
5. What about God’s timing?
-That only applies to things like ministry preparation/change in jobs, etc. You won’t’ find that in the New Testament.
Jesus never said come back in a few weeks and I will heal you. He never said you will be healed six months from now.
-Andrew Wommack who is my mentor in Divine Healing Teaching said this. Now this is a man who has seen tens of thousands of people healed. “95% of healings are recoveries and 5% are miracles.” Both are divine healing. Scripture does say “they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover.”
Recover means you are healed; but like if you had the flu: you are healed of it but it may take some time to get all your strength back. Miracles are instantaneous. For example, you were born blind and now you see.
6. I have heard that when you don’t get healed it is because not having enough faith or that you have sin in your life.
Is that true?
-I am going to introduce a new term here:
I call it excuse theology: what I mean by that is when we don’t get the results we wanted praying for someone-we tell them “well it’s not God’s will or it’s not God’s timing or God is putting this on you so you can be an example to others” For some reason that is a whole lot easier than to say I fell short/you fell short/we fell short.
-I think what happened, in my opinion is that there were years ago and I am sure it still exists this attitude if someone wasn’t healed there were only reasons: you don’t have enough faith or you have sin in your life.
-Let me just say this it only takes a mustard seed of faith to be healed so that cannot be the reason.
-As far as sin, sin can make us sick, but much sickness is just due to living in a fallen world. Jesus never used that standard to heal people; in fact, he hated that attitude among the Pharisees.
7. Well I just don’t believe that is how God choses to do things when it comes to divine healing! Or in my experience this is what happened when I prayed for people. Is this a problem and why?
-These are two of the most dangerous attitudes in the body of Christ today. We use our opinion and just come up with our own personal idea of how God operates. That’s always wrong.
-Or we pray for two people and one is healed and one isn’t; so, we come up with the sometimes God heals and sometimes he doesn’t base on outcome (our live experience). This is dangerous too.
-Why you ask? Because Jesus healed all that were sick. He told us to do the same. There are reasons it didn’t work the second time. It may be that we quit believing too soon or the person we were praying for was just scared and full of unbelief. Well that’s not going to work. So, what is the bottom line here.
-Don’t make doctrines out of your opinions and life experiences-they will lie to you. You must go by the Bible Promises in Scripture and keep pressing those Promises till they manifest. If you are unsure what the issue is that is preventing the manifestation of healing ask the Holy Spirit for wisdom and insight: he will give it to you.
