SO! YOU DON’T THINK GOD COULD EVER USE YOU!
You have been sold a pack of lies from the devil if you belief that. God made you for a purpose. He designed you before the foundation of the world and formed you in your mother’s womb. Even if someone called you a mistake; you had purpose in God’s eyes, and he loved you even before you were conceived. Even if you have just blown up your life; God’s plan B can even be better than his plan A. I know because that is what happened to me. He is a merciful and loving God.
1. The Problem is the Devil is a Liar and we believe him
John 8:44 (ESV)
"he is a liar and the father of lies."
Satan is the great deceiver.
· He will tell you that you are no good!
· He will tell you that you will never overcome this!
· He will tell you that you will never be healed!
You think you have failed too much. You’ve blown it. It’s too late. God could never use me. Really!
· Didn’t God use a murderer? (David)
· Didn’t God use an adulterer? (David)
· Didn’t God use a liar and a coward? (Abraham)
(He lied to the Pharaoh about his wife to spare his own life)
2. Remember the story of David and Bathsheba
The Bible tells us in II Samuel 11. How David lusted after the beautiful Bathsheba. He then has a sexual relationship with her. Then she got pregnant. This woman was married to Uriah the Hittite.
Uriah was one of David’s most loyal and trusted military leaders. But David wanting to cover up his sin. First, he tries to send Uriah home to his wife so it will look like the baby is Uriah’s instead of David’s. This backfired because Uriah doesn’t go home to be with his wife. Uriah is so dedicated to King David and the war that he doesn’t feel it is right for him to have the luxury of being with his wife when men are dying on the battlefield.
Then David raises the stakes and sends a message with Uriah back to the battlefield sealing his fate. He knew Uriah’s wouldn’t read it because he was such a man of integrity. It told the commanding officer to send Uriah to the heat of the battle (the front lines) and then withdraw from him. This would ensure his death and it did.
So, King David not only commits adultery; but then commits murder in order to cover it up. Oh, what a web we weave when at first, we practice to deceive.
God then called him out through Nathan the Prophet. Then David, remember a man after Gods own heart, only admitted it after being addressed by Nathan the Prophet. I am sure this is true for many of us today.
God was displeased and, in this case, there were consequences. David and Bathsheba lost their son. But there would be another day after David repented.
3. See yourself in the Spirit
(how God sees you not how you see you)
John 4:24 (ESV)
24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”
4. God has job openings and here are the qualifications
1 Corinthians 2:1-5 (ESV)
1 And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come proclaiming to you the testimony of God with lofty speech or wisdom.
2 For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.
3 And I was with you in weakness and in fear and much trembling,
4 and my speech and my message were not in plausible words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,
5 so that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.
· Calling all Christians
· Yah but I’ve got no talent-You’re Qualified
· But I can’t speak well-You’re qualified
· I am offering you the opportunity of a lifetime
· Even though you have no special abilities of even if you do and can see beyond them-You can possess something that other people only dream about or should be dreaming about
YOU CAN KNOW THE GOD OF THE UNIVERSE INTIMATELY AND BE FULL OF HIS LOVE AND POWER (YOU CAN HEAL THE SICK,ETC.)
-Sound good-well there are job openings.
-The only thing required is you must totally buy into this
Jeremiah 29:11-13 (ESV)
11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.
13 You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.
5. Remember the Rest of the Story of David and Bathsheba.
God forgave David and a son was born to the couple who had committed adultery and were now married. His name was Solomon. He became the wisest man in the world and one of the richest. David’s Kingdom was blessed through his son. And what happened to Bathsheba?
Well if you have ever wondered who the Proverbial (the Ideal) woman was in Proverbs 31 her name is Bathsheba. So can God turn things around if you have sinned. Yes, if you repent and call on his mercy.
6. Remember this you have a choice
John 10:10 (ESV)
10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.
The reason God can use you is because he loves you!!!
How you look at yourself determines if you build a glass ceiling over your future or if the sky is the Limit!!!
Proverbs 23:7 (KJV)
7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he
So! Who you gonna believe the Devil or Jesus? As for me I choose to believe Jesus and his promises; I hope you will too!
