WHERE WILL YOU FOREVER HOUSE BE?
Today we hear a lot of talk about people looking for their forever house. I had never heard this term till about a year ago. This is house where people want to spend the rest of their lives; their dream house.
Right now, Ginelle and I are looking for our dream house. I like to call it our life house. Why? You might ask. Because for me; it will not be where we spend eternity but the rest of our lives here on earth.
Now don’t get me wrong! I do have a forever house! So, does; my wife, Ginelle. I call it my mansion. It is in heaven and I will spend the rest of eternity there. You can one too if you qualify.
Back in 1976, I received the Title to my Mansion. It was June 12th, 1976. I had just graduated from High School in Pine City, MN about 3 weeks before that.
My parents were divorced, and my dad came to my graduation open house and invited me to come and visit him in Redwood Falls, MN where he was a High School English Teacher. So, my friend John and I went down to chase girls. That was our primary motive; I’m afraid to say.
The first day we were there my dad told us about knowing Jesus. We both invited Jesus into our hearts the next day. It was the start of an amazing journey for me that has lasted for nearly 43 years and I wouldn’t trade for the world!
So, what about this mansion in heaven?
1. What is it like?
There is no specific description of what your mansion will be like but imagine it in the light of what this New Heaven-the New Jerusalem will be like.
Revelation 21:1-27 (ESV)
1 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.
2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.
4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”
5 And he who was seated on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
6 And he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment.
7 The one who conquers will have this heritage, and I will be his God and he will be my son.
8 But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”
9 Then came one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues and spoke to me, saying, “Come, I will show you the Bride, the wife of the Lamb.”
10 And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great, high mountain, and showed me the holy city Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God,
11 having the glory of God, its radiance like a most rare jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal.
12 It had a great, high wall, with twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels, and on the gates the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel were inscribed--
13 on the east three gates, on the north three gates, on the south three gates, and on the west three gates.
14 And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the twelve names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
15 And the one who spoke with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city and its gates and walls.
16 The city lies foursquare, its length the same as its width. And he measured the city with his rod, 12,000 stadia. Its length and width and height are equal.
17 He also measured its wall, 144 cubits by human measurement, which is also an angel’s measurement.
18 The wall was built of jasper, while the city was pure gold, like clear glass.
19 The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with every kind of jewel. The first was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald,
20 the fifth onyx, the sixth carnelian, the seventh
chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, the twelfth amethyst.
21 And the twelve gates were twelve pearls, each of the gates made of a single pearl, and the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.
22 And I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb.
23 And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb.
24 By its light will the nations walk, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it,
25 and its gates will never be shut by day—and there will be no night there.
26 They will bring into it the glory and the honor of the nations.
27 But nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor anyone who does what is detestable or false, but only those who are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
Revelation 22:1-5 (ESV)
1 Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb
2 through the middle of the street of the city; also, on either side of the river, the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.
3 No longer will there be anything accursed, but the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will worship him.
4 They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads.
5 And night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever.
2. The Greatest Thing is Knowing Jesus here and there
Philippians 3:8-16 (ESV)
8 Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ
9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which comes through faith in Christ, the righteousness from God that depends on faith
10 that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death,
11 that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.
12 Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own.
13 Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead,
14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.
15 Let those of us who are mature think this way, and if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal that also to you.
16 Only let us hold true to what we have attained.
3. You can’t earn your mansion
So many believe that if you do more good works than bad you will go to heaven. Like God grades on a curve. He doesn’t. You can’t ever be good enough to get a mansion; you must receive your mansion as a free gift.
Ephesians 2:8-10 (ESV)
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,
9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
4. God sent his Son to die for your sins
John 3:16-18 (ESV)
16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
If I sent my son to die for your freedom and then you spit on what he had done for you and used his name as a curse word, there wouldn’t be enough eternities or hells for you. God wants those who want him.
5. What is hell like?
God showed me what it feels like for 10 years. I prayed a prayer back in 2005 and asked God to give me a vision of heaven or hell. I have experienced both.
Now my experience with hell lasted several years and thank God was only temporary. But this is what I experienced. It was a place on constant pain; and continual loneliness. Can there be anything worse. Mine lasted for ten years but what if it was for a thousand years and then it just kept going day after day after day. A nightmare that you can’t wake up from. You don’t want to go there; make heaven your home. There is a mansion waiting for you.
Revelation 20:11-15 (ESV)
11 Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. From his presence earth and sky fled away, and no place was found for them.
12 And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done.
13 And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, Death and Hades gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one of them, according to what they had done.
14 Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.
15 And if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
John 14:1-3 (KJV)
1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
Jesus tell his disciples that he is going to heaven to build them a mansion and tells them the Holy Spirit is coming and prepares them for his death and tries to get them to focus on eternity. I am trying to get you to do the same. It will all be worth it when we are in heaven. No matter what you have had to endure on this earth-persecution; sickness; pain; poverty; abuse; you name it; you have a mansion waiting for you-take comfort in that!!!
Pray for Salvation
If you never have invited Jesus to be your Savior or you have drifted away from him tonight is your night.
Would you pray this after me only if you mean it from your heart!
-Dear Heavenly Father,
-I confess all of my sins before you
-Thank you for forgiving me -I invite you in my heart right now
-I receive you as my Lord and Savior
-In Jesus Name, Amen
(If you prayed that prayer sincerely from your heart you just became a Christian with Eternal Life and Earthly Benefits)
